This ice cream treat is perfect for a hot summers day or for any other time of year.  Who doesn’t like ice cream:)  It is super simple and tastes even better.  Options are endless with this recipe.  The original recipe calls for vanilla ice cream and then to top it off with danish dessert but you can also do a pralines and cream ice cream and then top with caramel.  You get the picture, now let your imagination go wild.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 gallon of vanilla ice cream or any other flavor, thawed
  • 3/4 cup Butter
  • 1 1/2 cups Brown Sugar
  • 5 cups Rice Krispie cereal
  • Raspberry or Strawberry Danish Dessert (optional)
  • -raspberries or strawberries to go in danish dessert
  • Caramel (optional)
  • Chopped Nuts (optional)

Directions:

Combine butter and brown sugar in a medium saucepan.  Bring to a boil and boil for one minute stirring constantly.  It will thicken slightly.  Add nuts if using them and then add the Rice Krispies.  Stir until evenly coated.  Press 1/2 the mixture into a greased 11 x 17 pan.  Slice ice cream into 1 inch slabs.    Place on top of rice krispy mixture.  Place the other 1/2 of the rice krispy mixture on top of the ice cream layer.  Place in the freezer and freeze for 4 hours.   Cut into squares.  Right before serving make danish according to package and then add fruit.  Serve on top of the ice cream treat. The options are endless with this dessert.  You can add any kind of ice cream and then top with fudge, caramel or marshmallow topping.  Really any topping that goes with the flavor of ice cream.
