We love ice cream in our house! To make it even better we like to make homemade waffle cones that have been dipped in chocolate and sprinkled with fun toppings, to create an out of this world experience. The only thing is…you have to have a waffle cone maker. You can always buy store bought waffle cones and decorate them.
Waffle Cones
Ingredients:
- 1 whole egg
- 1 egg white
- ¼ tsp. salt
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ⅔ cup sifted all-purpose flour
- 2 Tbsp. butter, melted and cooled slightly
Directions:
Preheat the Waffle Cone maker. In a small bowl, beat the egg, egg white and salt with a fork until well blended. Beat in the sugar until it is incorporated and the egg has lightened in color slightly; about 1 minute. Add flour and beat another 15 seconds or until incorporated and all lumps are gone. Add the melted butter and stir until well blended.
Spoon 2 tablespoons (1 ounce) of batter in the center of the iron. Bake for 1 minute then check for proper color. Cook an additional 5 to 10 seconds if necessary.
Quickly remove the waffle from the Waffle Cone maker onto a clean cloth towel. If the waffle is too hot to handle with your bare hands, use the cloth to help lift and roll the waffle around the cone form. Hold the cone a few seconds to set its shape then place on a wire rack or cone holder to cool.

Chocolate and Decorations:
Ingredients:
- 2/3 cup chopped Oreos
Directions:
Melt the chocolate in a small deep bowl over a double boiler.
Using a brush, paint the inside of a cone with some chocolate. While it is still wet, sprinkle a little of one or more of the sprinkles, pecans, Oreo’s, chocolate candies or pretzels into the cone. Continue with the rest of the cones. Let dry.
Dip the top 2 inches of each cone in the melted chocolate and coat with more of the decorations. Stand the cones in a glass to dry.
