Baked Mozzarella Sticks are going to quickly become a staple in your house.  They are perfect for after school snacks, late night munchies and game day.  They are also freezer friendly.  Make a big batch up and plop them in the freezer. Then when you are craving warm, cheesy mozzarella sticks.  Pull them out of the freezer, bake and enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • 12 mozzarella cheese sticks
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup Italian flavored bread crumbs
  • ¼ cup Panko bread crumbs
  • 2 Tbls shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten

Directions:

Cut cheese sticks in half.

Set out three medium bowls.  Place flour in first bowl, beaten eggs in second bowl, and stir together both bread crumb and Parmesan cheese in the third bowl.

Line a baking sheet with waxed paper.

Dredge the cheese sticks in the flour first, then dip in the egg mixture, and finally coat with the bread crumb mixture.  Re-dip each cheese stick into the egg mixture and bread crumb mixture for a second coat if desired. (This is optional)  Place on lined baking sheet.  Repeat process until all cheese sticks are coated. Place baking sheet in freezer and freeze for 1 hour. (You can always make a lot more and keep them frozen in a ziploc bag. Then when you are ready to eat them pull them out and bake in the oven.)

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.  Line a baking sheet with foil. Spray foil with cooking spray. Place frozen cheese sticks on baking sheet and spray with cooking spray.  Bake for 3-5 minutes, turn, bake for another 3-5 minutes until golden.

Cool for several minutes before serving with marinara or ranch.
