Sweet and warm fruit with a flaky crust then topped with sweetened whipped cream, ice cream or both! This Dutch Apple Pie is by far one of my favorite apple pie recipes.  This pie is piled high with sliced apples and then topped off with the crumb topping.

Ingredients:

Crust:
  • Store bought or you can use this recipe or this one
Filling
  • 8 cups, apples. cored, pealed, and sliced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
Topping
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

Roll our crust and place it in the bottom of a pie pan.

In a mixing bowl put all filling ingredients, and mix until apples are coated. Pour filling into crust.

In a separate mixing bowl use a fork to combine all ingredients until the mixture is well combined and crumbly. Pour this onto your apple pie.

Bake for 50-55 minutes. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
