We love pizza night at our house. But sometimes the same old is boring or just doesn’t sound good. So we like to throw calzones into the mix of pizza night. These calzones are super easy and delicious. If you have frozen dough on hand just let them thaw to room temp. or make your own favorite pizza dough. Then comes the fun part, throw whatever toppings you want on it. You can go crazy or just stick with the original. The sky is the limit!
Ingredients
- 12-15 frozen rolls, thawed but still cold or make your own pizza dough
- Pepperoni or any favorite toppings
- 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese
- 1 tsp. parsley
- 1 tbsp. flour
- 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
- Italian Seasoning
- Parmesan Cheese
- Pizza sauce or make this one
Directions
Place a pizza stone in your oven. Preheat oven to 425. Cut your topping into smaller pieces to fit in your calzone. In a separate bowl mix together the cheese, parsley, flour and garlic powder. Take 3 rolls or a ball of dough that would make a 12-inch circle. Continue with the rest of the rolls or dough. Ending with 4-5, 12-inch circles. Top with the cheese mixture and then your toppings of choice. Fold other half over on top of the half with the filling. Pinch edges to seal. Place on a piece of parchment paper and continue with the others. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning and parmesan cheese. Bake for 12-15 mins. Calzones are done when lightly brown. Serve with pizza sauce.
If you don’t have a pizza stone bake on a greased cookie sheet or parchment lined cookie sheet for 15-17 mins. at 375.
