We love Barbecue, especially living in Texas!  This is one of our families favorite things to eat.  I have worked and worked with it to make the ultimate barbecue chicken.  We have finally made it and love it.  So have some real texas barbecue tonight:)

Ingredients

  • 4-6 boneless chicken breast
  • 1/2 – 1 bottle Sweet Baby Ray’s Barbecue Sauce (any flavor is fine but we like the original)
  • Buns or rolls of serving

Directions

Put a thin layer of sauce on the bottom of a crock pot.  Layer two chicken breasts followed by another layer of sauce and then repeat chicken, sauce, chicken and sauce.  I usually just drizzle the sauce over each layer.  Cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 4-6 hours.  Chicken is done when it shreds easily.

Pull chicken out of crock pot, shred chicken with two forks.  I usually shred chicken in a 9×13 in. dish.  Take the leftover juice in the crock pot and pour a little over to moisten the chicken.  I also like to pour more of the Sweet Baby Ray’s over the chicken.  Instead of using all the juice that it is cooked in I use more of the good stuff.  Put as much sauce on it as you would like.  Taste a little of the chicken and decide if it has enough sauce on it.  Drain crock pot and place chicken back in on low or warm.  Serve with buns or rolls for BBQ Chicken sandwiches.
